Music Therapy 1:30 PM - 2:20PM

1st-6th Tibetan bowls, tuning forks, gongs, shamanic drums, and binaural beats will be used.

Class Description

Sound therapy, also known as sound healing, is a therapeutic practice that uses vibrations, harmonic frequencies, and specific sounds to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Instruments such as Tibetan bowls, tuning forks, gongs, shamanic drums, and binaural beats are commonly used. This therapy is based on the idea that sound can balance the body’s energy, reduce stress, and foster a state of deep relaxation. Due to hygiene considerations, students will be able to play most of the instruments, except for those that require using the mouth to produce music, such as flutes or the didgeridoo. Albert Einstein once said that the future of medicine will be based on frequencies, and this is where the science of Sound Therapy can become a valuable option. Use of Harmonic Sounds ● Harmonic sounds help regulate emotions and reduce anxiety, creating a safe and welcoming space. ● Specific frequencies can stimulate focus and attention, supporting academic performance. Sensory Regulation ● The therapy can help reduce sensory overload by providing controlled and predictable auditory stimuli. ● This is especially beneficial for students overwhelmed by noisy or chaotic environments. Improved Sleep and Relaxation ● Sound therapy sessions can be applied before bedtime to encourage deeper rest, enhancing learning capacity and emotional regulation during the day. Potential Benefits for Neurodivergent Students ● Reduction of anxiety and stress. ● Enhanced attention and focus. ● Support for emotional regulation. ● Creation of a safe and predictable sensory environment. ● Increased self-awareness and emotional connection. Sound therapy is a non-invasive, adaptable tool that can complement other educational and therapeutic strategies, promoting a holistic approach to supporting neurodivergent students' overall well-being.
